1918 NORTH BUTTE MINING COMPANY - Butte, Montana. Property consisted of 2 groups of claims, the Speculator group on Butte Hill and the East Side or Sarsfield group. Also owned a smelter near Whitehall.
The green certificate (shown) has sold, however, I also have (2) orange 100 share stock certificates from the NORTH BUTTE MINING COMPANY - One is dated 1926 and the other 1928.

1919 WINDFALL PLACER MINING & DEVELOPMENT COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1909) Under the Laws of the State of Montana - Owned 620 acres of placer ground, water rights and timber land. About half of this was said to contain gold-bearing gravel. The operation was 8 miles from the town of Quartz, Montana in Mineral County. The gold was very high grade - 984 fine. Signed by W. J. Johnson as president and A. K. Anderson as secretary. Office at Missoula, Montana. Price - $46.00

1880s LUXEMBOURG MILL & MINING COMPANY - Montana (Territory) - Discovered in 1875 by Salton Cameron, superintendent of the nearby Cable Mine at Cable City. The mine and mill are located in the Georgetown Mining District near the Southern Cross Mining District in Deer Lodge County, Montana. The settlement of Georgetown is still occupied. The ore mill was built by the famous copper king Marcus Daly and was referred to as the Glen Mill. It was relatively intact until 1993, when it was torn down for safety concerns. It is said to have produced around $20,000 in gold. Unissued but signed by the company president, Robert L. Kelly. (Dated 188_) Price - $42.00
1929 BASIN MONTANA TUNNEL COMPANY - Jefferson County, High Ore Mining District - Near the towns of Basin, Boulder, and Comet, Montana. The district contains both placer and lode ore deposits. This operation produced gold, silver, lead and zinc.

1890s BOULDER SMELTING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of Montana - Shares were valued at $5.00 each. HELENA, MONTANA printed beneath the title and above the date line. Unissued. Price - $55.00
1916 WESTERN SMELTING AND POWER COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1911) Under the Laws of the State of Washington - This was a Cooke City, Park County, Montana operation. The company built a hydroelectric powerplant near a 53 foot waterfall on the Clark's Fork River (knowns as the "Big Fall"). An extensive, 1/4 mile wooden flume carried water to the plant. The construction required so much wood that they needed their own saw mill, which manufactured over 800,000 feet of timber. The company also built a smelter for processing copper ores from the area but was never fully operational. Hand-signed by Dr. Gottwerth Lebrecht Tanzer as president (and general manager) who was from Seattle, Washington. J. J. Black, secretary. Had offices at Seattle, WA and Cooke City, MT. This stock certificate represents so much history, I cannot include it all here. I encourage you to type the company name into GOOGLE BOOKS. I found some excellent photos there.

1906 QUANTOCK MINING AND MILLING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1905) Under the Laws of the State of Delaware - Operated the Comet Mine about 3/4 of a mile north of Coloma, Powell County, Montana, near the head of Bivins Gulch, a tributary of Elk Creek. The 15 ton Huntington Mill was on the property. Ores contained gold, silver and copper. Employed about 12 men. Signed by C. J. Seibel Jr. as treasurer and Chas. A. Cole, company president. Stock certificate issued to S. B. Weaver & Co. for 5,000 shares. Office at Philadelphia, PA.

1922 BROKEN HILL SILVER LEAD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated in June of 1922 Under the Laws of the State of Washington - Very early certificate from this company - Stock #5. Issued to the "Treasury" for a whopping 700,000 shares valued at 10 cents each. This was a tough company to track down, but I did eventually find a limited reference that placed the Broken Hill operation three miles from the town of Heron, Montana, on the Northern Pacific Railroad near the Idaho state line. Sanders County. Signed by M. J. Dunn as president and H. W. Fairbanks, secretary. Attractive vignette. Also notice the Native American motif on either side of the title. Had offices at Spokane, Washington and Clark Fork, Idaho. Price - $55.00
1889 PENN PLACER MINING COMPANY OF HELENA, MONTANA - Incorporated Under the Laws of Montana - Stock certificate issued to John Hays for 500 shares worth $5 each. Lewis and Clark County. Signed by R. H. G. Hill as treasurer and William H. Pancoash, president. Price - $120
1891 MILL CREEK AND EMIGRANT MINING AND SMELTING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1890) Under the Laws of the State of Montana - Impressive and scarce certificate issued to F. A. Krieger for 2,000 shares worth $5 each. This was a silver mine that produced some gold as well. Office at Livingston, Montana (printed on date line). Bright, shiny-gold corporate seal. Signed by P. Hoopes as secretary and J. Thompson, company president. Park County. Unique vignette shows a small ore mill surrounded by steep hills and mountains - river running through the center.

1911 TRUE FISSURE MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in August of 1904) Under the Laws of the State of Montana - Mine located 5 miles north of the small town of De Borgia, Montana, in the Rock Island Mining District. Mineral County. Stock certificate issued to company president, William Trentowsky for a whopping 5,000 shares. De Borgia, Montana stamped into the shiny-gold corporate seal. Bull Elk vignette. Produced lead / silver ores. Price - $75.00
1918 SOUTHERN MONTANA OIL COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of Montana - Stock certificate issued to Isaac A. Herron for 1,000 shares. Picture shows multiple oil wells dotting the landscape. In the foreground you can see a horse-drawn oil tanker car. Anaconda, Montana stamped into the shiny-gold corporate seal. Billings, Montana printed on the date line. Signed by J. W. Walker as president. Price - $49.00
1913 KING AND QUEEN MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1905) Under the Laws of the State of Montana - PROPERTIES LOCATED CARTER, MISSOULA CO., MONTANA printed beneath title. Owned 15 claims and a millsite on well-timbered land, 3 and 1/2 miles from the Northern Pacific Railway, in the Spring Gulch District. Ore contained copper, lead, silver and gold. Stock certificate signed by J. F. Hinckley as secretary and Dr. G. T. McCullough, vice president. Had offices at Pittsburg, PA and Superior, Montana. Printed by the Western Bank Note Co., Chicago. 1892 GREAT FALLS WATER POWER AND TOWNSITE COMPANY - Organized in 1886 Montana - Stock certificate issued to Louis Cabot for 100 shares worth $100 each. Large, unique vignette shows an early stone dam, used to produce electrical power. Great Falls Montana is in Cascade County. Price - $85.00
1900 THE BONANZA CHIEF GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the Territory of Montana - Stock certificate issued for 100 shares. The Bonanza Chief was located 8 miles from Helena, Montana. Vignettes show a group of early prospectors starting a new mine and a Native American vignette at bottom. Signed by Robert F. 1890s MOUNTAIN SIDE COAL COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of Montana - This mine was situated on the main line of the Northern Pacific Railway at Chestnut, Montana. M. J. Johnson, manager. Employed 70 men. The bituminous coal was good quality and used in the local trade centers for steam purposes. Gallatin County. Office at Bozeman, Montana. Shares were worth $100 each. Very ornate certificate with 3 mining vignettes. Unissued. Price - $65.00
